Tips for keeping kids entertained:
| 1. |
Choose party games that involve all the kids at once - especially when there is a large group, so they are not standing around waiting for their turn at something. |
| 2. |
Don't give them too much to do - if you have a face painter and a jumping castle, or have a party in a park with distractions like playground equipment, trying to make the kids then play party games is going to be challenging. It's best to choose just one form of entertainment. |
| 3. |
Have a designated present area & leave the opening of these to the end so the birthday child isn't distracted wanting to play with all their new toys. Also save the cake for right at the end. |
| 4. |
Play active games/activities at the beginning then have a break for food/snacks then play the quieter games/activities afterwards |
| 5. |
Most kids enjoy time to just play with each other so don't be too stressed about keeping them entertained the whole time. By all means have a format for the party which keeps them busy and engaged (and helps you be organised!) but also allows them to have a break to just socialise as after all the kids.net.au dictionary’s definition of a party is “an occasion on which people can assemble for social interaction and entertainment”. |
